Preview 2018



After a fruitful 2017 with many exciting launches and the end of some historic missions, ESA is ready for the year to come. 2018 will see the 10th anniversary of the International Space Station’s Columbus module and an ESA astronaut taking the helm of the ISS as commander. There will be more launches of new Earth observation and exploration satellites and ESA will venture to the innermost planet in our Solar System. 2018 will also mark the completion of the first part of the Copernicus constellation observing the Earth and of the full Galileo constellation, Europe’s own satellite navigation system.

    I think Mercury is under-explored, because it's so hard to slow down once you get there. Can't wait see more exploration of the smallest planet!

    For this year I want see these experiments:.
    – put a balloon in the open space to see if it explodes or not, then it will help to understand if the outside space is dangerous or if the human can live in there safety and may also breathe and finally try to inflate a balloon directly in the outside space, it will may not explode.
    – try to develop a propulsion in space, maybe the air rejected by a millimetric hole can be sufficient for a little push, and a big hole for a big push, but also try to launch any standard engine like a very small missile toy or fireworks this will help you to develop a drone also
    – try to develop a space ship to travel through the space
    – then go again to the moon 🙂
    – and finally, try to develop a defensive system to be protected from debris, meteorites an why not from another life form attack, and yep, you do not want that the korean king will hit the iss with some his nuclear missile 😀
    All of you space agencies will be albe to realize these my whishes?

    Русскоязычный текст расширит вашу аудиторию до граждан СНГ, так как на территории республик бывшего СССР русский язык по-прежнему является языком межнационального общения, как и английский – для Европы.

    В конце концов, наши астронавты и космонавты вместе развивают международную космическую станцию, а ваши граждане точно так же смотрят видео российского космического агентства и так же просят добавлять англоязычные субтитры. Думаю, что, благодаря этому, все вместе мы сможем больше узнавать о планах наших учёных и об их совместном сотрудничестве!

    New super tech Ariane rocket "to secure " European space agency, perhaps in a decade they will change and go to reusable rockets while others will be dealing with landing on Mars. When you are burning taxpayer money there is no hurry I guess.

    looks good ESA the first Columbus experiment of 2018 is already on board and being activated the SDS experiment just waiting for ACE to arrive and ASIM to arrive they are now at the Kennedy Space Center awaiting launch. once they are on orbit Rapidscat and Solar will be sent to the junkyard and Sage 3 will take over operations.

    Good job, Europe! You've come so far and really are leaders in space. The synergy you provide with the global space effort is invaluable. Also, this this video was just exceptionally well edited, informative and narrated compared to a lot of other media coming from space agencies.

    استجدمو الضوء  ومرئيات ونتتج عنه أنحاء او تغير التجاه الضوء بسبب اندماج ثقبين اسودين من ما تسبب في تغير مسار الضوء اسوال بي هذي التجربه كيف الستطاع الثقب الاسود التثير بي الضوء الموجد بالارض عن بعد الف السنين الضويه هذا دليل على ان الضوء ليس له مجال مغناطيسي بل الذي  تسبب بي تغير مسار الضوء هو الفضاء 

    4 -معرفة قرب المجرت وبعده يعتمد على
    الطول الموجي لي الضوء  على سبيل المثال ان مجرت المراه المتسلسيله عندما تقرب  من مجرتناء الطول الموجي ينكمش ويصبح لونه ازرق ولكن في حل المجرت التي تبتعد فنا الطول الموجي لي المجرات يتمداد ويصبح لون احمر
    هذ دليل على الضوء موجه في الفضاء يتثر بما يتثر به الفضاء

Debris Disk Simulations Generate Spirals, Rings and Arcs




When exoplanet scientists first spotted patterns in disks of dust and gas around young stars, they thought newly formed planets might be the cause. But a recent NASA study cautions that there may be another explanation: one that doesn’t involve planets at all.
An alternative explanation suggests the dust and gas in the disk can form the patterns themselves when they interact with starlight.
When high-energy UV starlight hits dust grains, it strips away electrons. Those electrons collide with and heat nearby gas. As the gas warms, its pressure increases and it traps more dust, which in turn heats more gas. The resulting cycle, called the photoelectric instability (PeI), can work in tandem with other forces to create some of the features astronomers have previously associated with planets in debris disks.

A 2013 study suggested PeI could explain the narrow rings seen in some disks. The model also predicted that some disks would have arcs, or incomplete rings, which weren’t directly observed in a disk until 2016.

The new simulation includes an additional new factor: radiation pressure, a force caused by starlight striking dust grains.

Light exerts a minute physical force on everything it encounters. This radiation pressure propels solar sails and helps direct comet tails so they always point away from the Sun. The same force can push dust into highly eccentric orbits, and even blow some of the smaller grains out of the disk entirely.

The new research modeled how radiation pressure and PeI work together to affect the movement of dust and gas, and also found that the two forces manifest different patterns depending on the physical properties of the dust and gas.
