So, companies that are funded by investors and stocks eventually WILL hollow out a marketplace?
Investor money and stocks as doping, that you need to compete, because everybody takes it, even though it's a short cut and unhealthy in the long run.
15:12 sums it up pretty well.

This is totally real. If he would've been a coder, he'd have seen a whole other level of cult bullshit that no one who isn't a coder would be familiar with. So much talking in circles to confuse managers and make excuses for being passive aggressive.

Complaining about white people in a white country??
    God forbid.

This guy is complaining about the cult THEY created. All these tech companies will be destroyed by their own fervor. Demanding diversity instead of hiring the best man or woman for the job. You reap what you sow.

President Donald J Trump will hopefully get the wheel in motion before you people burn Rome once again.

this is why 100% of my coding and work is done REMOTELY. fuck these cults. I build AI and complex software that these snowflakes use but couldn't build themselves. These fuckers can't build a computer, they can only use one. They don't invent anything, they remix other people's work.

This sounds like my experience with with learning to "code" at this "modern" school. The teacher didn't know how to code anything and the classmates were pretty moody except a few. They talked about how "we're the lucky few" and that we "need to be a 1 percenter."

I don't think the Teddy bear is that crazy
Its the same idea that god is always watching
    and the All seeing eye
You keep your self in check with moral values
Or in this case the customer – the hand that feeds you or Teddy

    Don't think I'm crazy
A teddy bear in a chair at the serious busyness meeting LoL
    Straight out of Mr.Been

I guess they were all crazed up a bit over there
But It's like this guy doesn't want to admit that there is any point or purpose
    to any of their methods
Super biased one side of the coin ridicule
    Very unperceptive

i really loved this talk because that was what i saw during my adventures in startups and corporate companies. main problem is; neoliberalism which is promoting trickle down economics leads world to a mass where precariat rises, extreme ideas and ruined planet. Those tech ceo's are no different than robber barons of 19th century. We have to fix that income inequality because we are people and we are data they sell and build a vast fortune over us.

    September 12, 2017 at 3:29 pm

We'll if you've got a problem why don't you start your own start up. I'm a programmer and I wouldn't want to work in an company with an tight ass culture. Of course that kind of pretentious happyhappy culture is shit too. Also I don't think looking at color/age of people solves anything. Actually I think it's pretty racist to say that every white guy looks like the same and is a bro fratboy. Only skill should be the basis for hiring people. and they should be paid accordingly. I'm not a CEO, but if some of my coworker is slacking or not a good team player, I think they should be "graduated"

If you liked this talk, you should definitely check out his book: "Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Start Up Bubble". It's basically a longer version of this talk with more details about the idiocy of Silicon Valley culture (even though they were in Boston.) I found myself nodding frequently (I work in tech.)

    Wtf is he lying about?

  21. Darran Douglas

    September 13, 2017 at 10:03 pm

In an effort to understand comedy and how it relates to culture, not to complain about the video because it funny and relate-able, but on the subject of humor as an abstract, is humor always at someone or somethings expense? Does humor force people to join a club, where we laugh at the others, and if you don't get the joke you risk being a victim of the joke, or you can't laugh at yourself, if it's something your guilty of, then how is that healthy. I'm just always stuck on this thought as it seems to be a dominate form of social conditioning where there's always a group of people that represent failure to some degree, and if you laugh at their failure your no longer run the risk of such a label being attached to you. There seems to be a lot of instances where a joke is more than a joke, it's a complaint with "your/they/that is an idiot" tied on the end. Something Trump liked to use when debating with Clinton. Why do we buy into that, as it always creates an "other" that needs to be marginalized it term of life preferences. Simply put the "hey your and idiot" joke is the most popular type of jokes in our culture, so it seems, and what does that say about our culture. Do we always need something to complain about, so no matter how good things are there's always an idiot that needs to be laughed at…. I constantly fail to see how that type of humor is healthy… but yet i do laugh at such things.

OMG! This guy is part of The Silicon Valley Series. That is why the show felt so realistic. I really wondered why the protagonist has to suffer so much usually in movies as soon as you hit a brilliant idea you are a success. But that series goes more true to life where struggle begins after the Eureka moment. As a comedy show it was frustrating to watch after a time but very realistic considering that it was a comedy show.

The problem will never go away. The whole system is set up in a way that rewards greed. This is freedom. You will never have personal and economical freedom and equality.

Hiding in a bunker with your billions of dollars, in a world where money will become meaningless and the only thing that matters is living to your next meal and finding a safe place to scratch out a living for yourself. Really shows how "smart" these people are. Sure they'll live in luxury for a while, but after the fires burn out and the smoke clears, where will they be? The only thing that money will be good for is burning to cook your rice and beans that you stole off a mother and child after you gunned them down with your hired goons while on a scavenging mission. Rather than sharing deep quotes on Linkedin maybe you should actually lead by example and live by those quotes. Oh wait that's right, millions of people suck your cock everyday trying to be like you, so we all know that's never going to happen.
